Art history is a subject that I never find tiring. I’ve spent the past several years taking so many art, jewelry making, graphic design, and art history classes, your head would spin. These classes have made me more sensitive to the needs of my target audience: sophisticated, cultured women. I love taking art history classes since they keep me in tune with the history of art. I can apply this knowledge when I’m going through the design process to create jewelry that will resonate with my target audience of sophisticated, cultured women.
My home in Laguna Niguel, California is bursting at the seams due to my many art and art history books I use to build my knowledge of art and jewelry designing.
Talented art historian and author Simon Schama profiles eight artistic mavericks in his art history series, The Power of Art. He created videos covering Van Gogh, Picasso, Caravaggio, Bernini, Rembrandt, David, Turner and Rothko. The first episode of the series aired in October 2006.
I hope you find these videos as mesmerizing as I do. I’ve become obsessed with art history these days. I can’t get enough of this stuff. Simon Schuma won the International Emmy Award for Arts Programming for his series. Below are a couple of art history videos that you might find interesting.
